Budapest Celtic F.C. are delighted to announce that for the first time ever the Celtic Indoor Winter Cup has its own sponsor! Expatriate-owned Artosz Bakery and Delicatessen has locations in Buda and Pest and been providing natives and expatriates in Budapest with foreign confectionery and food stuffs as well as quality fresh cakes and pastries since it opened for business four years ago.
Artosz's modern bakery in the 9th district in Pest produces fresh, sweet and savoury snacks for public customers as well as for Budapest cafe chains such as Gloria Jeans and Coffee Heaven, while a wide range of meats (e.g. proper bacon and sausages!), sauces, marmalades, crisps, cereals, condiments and other tasty imported treats are on sale in its shop located at the end of the Bus number 5 line at Pasáréti Tér in the 2nd district. Artosz can order many goods from abroad specific to a particular request and, in a new development, is just opening an online shopping facility on its website, www.artosz.hu, the branding and promotional materials for which our very own Neil Evans has helped professionally design!
Artosz has agreed to start a partnership with Budapest Celtic FC by providing some financial assistance to help us hold the second edition of the Indoor Cup which runs from 6th December until 28th February. Naturally it would therefore be important for us to check out Artosz and its products when convenient and, if we find something(s) we like, to tell the shop assistants we're customers from Budapest Celtic FC. For those who aren't sure how to get there, soon I'll offer a time for a group of us to go and look around. If this partnership is successful then hopefully it will lead to more cooperation and more benefits for club members in the future.
HUNGARY GREEN TAKE THE UNBEATEN SPOILS IN FINAL WEEKEND OF ARTOSZ 5-ASIDE WINTER CUP
After 8 exciting and competitive weeks of indoor football, the Artosz Winter Indoor Cup finally came to a close. After leading from day one, Adam Balogh's Hungary Green lifted the trophy handed to them by Mike Glover, the co-owner of the tournament sponsor, Artosz Bakery. The team managed to remain unbeaten through the whole tournament which was an amazing feat in itself. There was still much to play for as trophies were awarded to the 3rd and 4th placed teams, in which United Nations, Germany and England all had a chance. Two of which still had to play Hungary Green and were keen to put a black mark against that unbeaten record.
First up was United Nations who, until last week, had a sniff of becoming champions themselves. In the match up with the newly crowned champions, there was only ever going to be one winner as Hungary Green dismantled a shell shocked Nations squad who had two players vying for the golden boot award in Martin Gloria Andrez and Leo Kronberger. Unfortunately for them both the award was done and dusted after this game as Green's Gyuri hammered home 5 goals to storm clear in an 8-1 thrashing.
In a game played at the same time, Germany must have had one eye on that result as they had a slim chance of sneaking into 2nd spot after a resurgent second half of the season. But they were soundly beaten by a solid England side 5-2 consisting of another player who had very faint hopes of taking the golden boot in Neil, who notched a hat-trick.
Eastern promise were keen to avoid the wooden spoon and overcame Hungary White by 5 goals to 3 which included a Yoshi brace for Promise.
The second and final round of matches pitted England against Hungary Green. The omens weren't good for England as they lost their goalkeeper and club manager Matt, to a broken hand in the previous game which left them with only the bare minimum five players. Up against a joyous Hungary Green with a full squad and the golden boot winner was going to be a very ominous task, but a very solid defensive display from Johny Bennett, kept Gyuri at bay in the first half. Add 2 Neil Evans goals and England were halfway to a groundbreaking victory. But Balogh' team weren't newly crowned champions for no reason and in the second half, normal service was resumed. A debateable penalty set the tone, but then they made full use of their extra players and hit 3 without reply edging out England 3-2.
Another close match was between United Nations and Eastern Promise where Martin GA's team were desperate not to finish with two defeats and on a personal note he was still fighting for the top goal award. A hat-trick for both Martin and Leo made sure they both finished in the top 4 as braces for Chris, Taka and Yoshi made it a close finish at 7-6 for the UN.
Germany finished on a very high note with the biggest win of the tournament as 6 goals for Jakob, a hat trick for Victor and a further two for Jasper to add to his two in the previous match secured an 11-0 demolition job on a hapless Hungary White.
After the matches, the awards were given out by Mike Glover to Hungary Green (first place), United Nations (second place) and Germany (third place) and a box of goodies complimentary of Artosz Bakery to the Golden Boot winner, Gyuri (Hungary Green).
